CMC Markets is bringing its institutional operation under the CMC Markets Institutional name, retiring CMC Connect as the group places those services under its main brand. The company says existing clients and partners will continue to receive the same services.
The offer spans wealth, investing and trading, alongside access to public and private markets. Its capabilities also include investment infrastructure, liquidity across asset classes and trading technology. CMC Markets has not announced changes to these services as part of the renaming.
The move follows growth in the group's institutional and business-to-business activity. In July, CMC Markets said client assets reached a record £46.3 billion. It also announced a trading technology partnership with Westpac in Australia, intended to expand its customer base.
CMC Markets established CMC Markets Connect in January 2021 to set its institutional business apart from its retail operation, citing increased investment in liquidity provision, pricing and execution. The business serves dealing desks, hedge funds, family offices, brokerages and banks, providing API connectivity and white-label solutions that let partners offer trading through their own platforms. Its former CMC Connect website reported more than 150 institutional partners.
Prime brokerage adds execution scope
- Launched through CMC Connect in May 2026, Prime Services combines financing and post-trade support with multi-asset execution, as well as cash and synthetic prime brokerage.
- Smart order routing and direct market access provide access to synthetic single-stock exposure, cash equities and exchange-traded funds.
Where this lands in the stack
Finance Magnates first reported the rebrand. CMC Markets says the service offering remains the same, but has not specified whether the name change requires updates to API references, partner documentation, account labels or reporting outputs. Operations teams should ask the firm which, if any, internal or client-facing identifiers need updating.
The same confirmation is relevant to Prime Services workflows. Teams can ask whether their existing integrations and reconciliation processes for financing, execution and post-trade support need any adjustment. The report does not give a migration timetable, operating cost or technical implementation detail, so those points remain to be confirmed.
