HFM has appointed Evagoras Kountouris as Chief of Staff, according to a LinkedIn post on Tuesday 13 October 2026. The announcement does not set out his remit, leaving open how the position fits into the broker's operating and decision-making structure.

Kountouris arrives from Libertex Group, where his five years and four months covered the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Strategy Officer roles. Before that, at Markets.com, he spent two years and eleven months as Group CFO, a board member and an executive director.

Finance and trading experience

His earlier roles included five years as Group CFO at FxPro, preceded by five years and two months at PwC as an Assistant Manager in Financial Services. The appointments bring finance and strategy experience from online trading firms, along with a financial services background.

The hire follows changes in HFM's senior team. Georgios Papassavas moved into the CEO role after serving as Chief Information Officer, a change reported in June. In August, the broker named Mohamed Elgayyar Head of GCC and Egypt.

HFM has also made appointments across its MENA business. In December 2025 it promoted Michalis Papacostas to Regional Head for MENA. Jean Nahas became Head of Category in the UAE, with responsibility for the licensed entity and Dubai office, while Ahmad Qutaishat joined as Senior Business Development Manager after sales positions at Equiti Group, ATFX MENA and VT Markets. Finance Magnates reported the appointments.

Where this lands in the stack

The announcement identifies a senior appointment, but not whether the Chief of Staff role changes ownership of technology decisions, operational controls or reporting lines. Platform and operations teams should establish which functions, if any, will now route through Kountouris and whether existing escalation paths or approval responsibilities will change.

There is no disclosed system migration or integration requirement in the announcement. Operators can check whether the new role affects finance and strategy workflows, including who signs off on platform changes, reconciles information across teams or owns compliance reporting. Those responsibilities remain questions for HFM to clarify.
