ICM MENA has promoted Ahmed Kamal to chief executive officer, putting a long-serving regional manager at the head of ICM.com's Dubai-based regional arm. Kamal joined in March 2019 and took on the Regional Manager position in June 2024.
Kamal's route through ICM
His LinkedIn profile records a series of regional roles: Senior Business Development Manager for MENA from February 2021, followed by Team Leader in April 2023, then Regional Manager. The promotion moves him from regional management to the top role at ICM MENA.
Before joining ICM, Kamal spent nearly nine years with JMI Brokers. He started as a Sales Coordinator in April 2010, became a Business Development Manager in February 2016 and left that post in February 2019. His profile says he completed a bachelor's degree in accounting at El Shorouk Academy in 2010. ICM Founder and Chairman Shoaib Abedi credited Kamal's contribution and leadership in developing the MENA team.
ICM's regional build-out
Kamal said he intends to prioritise ties with MENA traders and partners, alongside the service that he said has shaped ICM's reputation. The group, previously known as ICM Capital, adopted the ICM.com name in August 2018 to bring its entities under a shared brand. In November 2015, ICM Capital had announced a deal with brothers Mohammad and Abdulla Habib Al Mulla to establish a Dubai representative office.
ICM.com established a Qatar unit in 2021 under Qatar Financial Centre approvals. Its licence covered FX and CFD products for retail and professional clients in Qatar, as well as other GCC states and North Africa. The group also launched a subsidiary in Jordan. Finance Magnates later reported that ICM MENA had secured a licence from Dubai's Securities and Commodities Authority. It also reported that ICM.com had regulatory status in the Abu Dhabi Global Market, Mauritius, South Africa and Switzerland, while the group planned to relinquish its UK Financial Conduct Authority authorisation and restrict its UK unit to professional-client onboarding.
The integration question
The appointment announcement does not say whether Kamal's remit changes operational ownership, reporting lines or approval paths. Broker operations and risk teams should establish whether regional escalation for traders and partners, onboarding decisions or compliance reporting now route differently.
The published account also does not describe any changes to legal entities, permissions or client coverage. Teams supporting MENA operations should confirm whether the promotion affects those arrangements, particularly across the Qatar unit and the other jurisdictions named, or whether the change is limited to leadership.
