Corcoran's trades and price context
IG Group Holdings CEO Breon Corcoran acquired 70,000 ordinary shares for approximately £661,913 in two dealings disclosed in a regulatory filing published Tuesday 27 October 2026. He bought 30,000 shares last Friday for £9.45 apiece, a total of £283,500. Yesterday's purchase covered another 40,000, with an average price of £9.460325 and a value of approximately £378,413. Both orders went through the London Stock Exchange.
The transactions came after IG shares dropped by as much as 27% in early trading on 2 October. The move followed the broker's reduction of its revenue growth outlook for 2026.
CFO purchase and product plans
Chief Financial Officer Clifford Abrahams also bought shares last Friday. His 10,000 ordinary shares were priced at £9.43991, costing £94,399.10. That London Stock Exchange trade was disclosed yesterday.
Together, the two executives acquired 80,000 ordinary shares for approximately £756,312. The filings provide no explanation for either purchase.
IG has been adding products alongside its trading services. In September it introduced a mobile app connecting investing and cryptocurrency accounts, with spread betting and CFD trading due to be integrated. Corcoran discussed the planned $1.1 billion purchase of US prediction markets operator Underdog in October. He questioned whether notional trading volumes are a useful indicator, and pointed instead to net gaming revenue as a better performance measure.
Underdog reported third-quarter net revenue of $105 million, 118% higher year-on-year. IG has applied for a UK gambling licence covering prediction markets on entertainment, political and sporting events, with a launch aimed at early 2027 subject to regulatory approval. Financial event contracts for professional clients are planned for the fourth quarter of 2026. Finance Magnates reported the October share-price move on 7 October.

What this means on the desk
The share disclosures do not provide a reason for the purchases, so they do not establish a change in IG's trading outlook or operating plans. For infrastructure teams, the more concrete work lies in the product announcements: the company has not specified how the app's account connections, planned trading features or prediction-market contracts will affect existing systems.
Teams assessing those changes should ask what account data and balances need to move between services, how orders and positions will be reconciled, and which reporting and risk controls will apply to financial event contracts. The source gives no technical integration or migration details, so those requirements remain open questions for IG.
