IG supplies the trading stack
IG Prime, the institutional business of IG Group, has signed Investec Prime Services to use its white-label platform in South Africa. Investec will retain its own identity for clients, while IG provides the underlying trading technology, execution, analytics and risk tools. The service covers derivatives linked to fixed income, commodities, FX, indices and equities.
According to the announcement, Investec clients will be able to trade about 19,000 instruments listed by IG worldwide, including roughly 12,000 individual shares. The package also includes 24/5 access in selected equity markets, plus weekend sessions for index and FX markets.
Investec opens a local channel
The partnership gives IG a route into South Africa through a bank's institutional desk. IG closed its local rand-denominated retail accounts in mid-2025, so the arrangement brings its technology to the market without its own retail brand. Investec Prime Services is part of Investec Bank Limited. Its website says the unit serves hedge funds, corporates and other institutions with securities lending, custody, execution and clearing.
IG Prime introduced its white-label service in September 2025, initially signing an international banking group whose name was not disclosed. The offer was aimed at banks' hedge fund clients. IG's May trading update said the service had launched that month and that its first partner had joined, but did not identify the firm.

What to watch next
IG has also broadened its business through its January purchase of Australian crypto exchange Independent Reserve, and names Freetrade and tastytrade among its brands alongside IG Prime. It reported record revenue of GBP 1.12 billion for 2025 and is due to provide further detail at a strategy update in London on October 22. The partnership was first reported by Finance Magnates.
The announcement does not set out how the firms will divide operational responsibilities. Teams evaluating the service should establish who manages order routing, client entitlements, risk settings and post-trade reconciliation. Investec's existing services include custody and clearing, but the announcement does not specify how those functions connect to the new platform. Operators should also clarify what reporting and support arrangements apply, and which party handles issues across the trading day and weekend sessions.
