Address lookup maps contests to markets
Kalshi has placed My Ballot in its 2026 Midterms Hub, bringing local ballot information and matched contract prices into one view. The feature is available on its website and mobile app. Kalshi says it will cover every race for which it has an active market, through Election Day.
A visitor enters an address, and Ballotpedia's Sample Ballot Lookup data is used to identify the relevant races and ballot measures. Kalshi checks those contests against its active election markets and displays a price where it finds a match.
This makes the visitor's own ballot the starting point for exploring available markets. VoteHub already combines polling, market prices, past results and campaign-finance data. My Ballot arranges election information around the local contests a visitor can vote on, rather than asking them to start with a national race.
Kalshi says more than 80% of Midterms Hub visitors use it for information rather than trading. The feature therefore puts political contracts in front of people who may have arrived to check ballot details, without requiring them to search for a market first.
Sports now outweighs political trading
That discovery route comes as Kalshi's trading mix has shifted. Politics was its largest category around the 2024 presidential election, when the company was in court against the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. Sports has since moved well ahead of political trading.
Pew Research Center data show political volume stayed below $300 million a month across the period ending in July 2026. In July, politics recorded $169 million in volume, compared with $31.4 billion for sports.
The rollout was reported by Finance Magnates. Kalshi has not published figures showing whether people who find a local contest go on to trade its contract.
The integration question
For infrastructure teams, the announcement leaves several implementation questions open. How are submitted addresses processed, and is any address data retained? How are Ballotpedia contest records matched to Kalshi contracts, and how often do displayed prices refresh? The report does not specify the data-handling, matching or refresh arrangements.
Conversion is also unmeasured in the information provided. Operators assessing the feature should ask how Kalshi tracks movement from a ballot lookup to a matched market and then to a trade. Without those figures, My Ballot provides a route to political markets, but not evidence that the route is acquiring traders.
