Access now covers EU clients
XTB S.A. Has enabled clients across the European Union to access Warsaw-listed instruments on its platform without first submitting a separate application. The broker and Warsaw Stock Exchange (GPW) described the change as a pilot on Friday. Before October, automatic access was available only to XTB customers in Poland. Clients in France, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, the UK, Portugal, Romania and Spain had used an application route.
The change gives GPW a route to investors beyond Poland. KDPW's end-September tally exceeded 3 million brokerage accounts, including 1.285 million at XTB. The total stood at 2,856,520 in May, according to FM Intelligence data. Poland contributed 54.4% of XTB's revenue in 2025. The broker says more than 3.2 million people use its investing app.
XTB connects a global client base
Overseas account growth extends beyond the markets covered by the pilot. XTB Chief Executive Omar Arnaout said last week that Indonesia ranked second to Poland for new accounts. Filip Kaczmarzyk, a member of XTB's management board, said foreign clients already showed interest in Polish shares and that automatic access would remove operational obstacles. He cited CD Projekt, Benefit Systems and LPP as Warsaw-listed businesses operating in international markets.
The pilot is part of a GPW initiative for exchange members serving foreign retail investors. XTB will run information and promotional campaigns about the Polish market. Michał Kobza, a member of the Warsaw Stock Exchange's management board, said a bigger foreign investor presence could support liquidity and raise the profile of listed companies abroad. The cooperation and its market rationale were first reported by Finance Magnates. GPW pointed to this year's index performance: WIG20 had gained more than 34% since January, while mWIG40 was up 30%, compared with less than 13% for the S&P 500. XTB has traded on the Warsaw exchange since 2016 and said last week that third-quarter profit was four times its level a year earlier. The firms gave no date for access beyond the EU.

What this changes for operators
For platform and operations teams, the immediate task is to establish how the new access is represented in account permissions and instrument entitlements. The announcement does not specify whether routing, market data access, onboarding checks or post-trade processes will change. Operators should ask which controls need updating for eligible EU accounts and which remain unchanged.
The firms have not set a date for access outside the EU. Brokers should confirm how client eligibility will be determined, and check how Polish positions and activity will appear in statements and reconciliation workflows. The announcement does not describe those implementation details or say how local-market disclosures and support will be handled.
