Goldenway Japan, which operates the FXTF retail FX and CFD business, plans to take the corporate name GW Securities from November 1. The company told clients that the FXTF brand, their contracts, its website and its office address will stay unchanged.

Corporate identity changes, FXTF stays

Registration is due to be completed by December 1, and Goldenway Japan has offered no explanation for the decision. FXTF reported more than 280,000 accounts in June. That month, it also connected accounts to TradingView, becoming the first Japanese broker to do so. Goldenway Japan is wholly owned by Singapore company FXTF Holdings. Its president previously worked at Hong Kong-based Goldenway Investment.

Account access gets a security update

On the same day as the rename notice, FXTF reported that hackers had traded on several clients' MT4 accounts using logins obtained from servers rented by traders from GMO Internet Group. The broker limited trading on the affected accounts and will make one-time passwords part of login from October 31. IG Japan introduced mandatory two-step login in June during a phishing wave. The name-change notice makes no reference to the breach.

Other Japanese firms changed legal names

Goldenway Japan holds a Type I financial instruments business license and belongs to the Japan Securities Dealers Association (JSDA). OANDA Japan, which held withdrawals last week after the same server-host breach, became OANDA Securities on August 1, 2021.

Its notice dealt only with the company's name. FOREX.com's Japanese operation went through two changes: Gain Capital Japan became StoneX Financial in 2021, then StoneX Securities in September 2022 while keeping the FOREX.com brand, as Finance Magnates reported at the time.

YJFX followed a different path after GMO Financial Holdings bought it. The company took the name Gaika ex by GMO in September 2021, and its FX service adopted that name too. Account-opening documents for FXTF will display both corporate names from October 30. Deposits should continue to reach bank accounts in the Goldenway name for about a month as banks update the account holder.

The integration question

The stated change is to the company name, not the FXTF brand, client contracts or website. Operations teams should check whether internal legal-entity records, payment instructions and reporting workflows need the new name, and confirm how they will identify deposits while banks update account-holder records.

The notice does not specify technical changes to account identifiers or interfaces. Firms connecting to FXTF should establish whether any integration or counterparty records need updating before registration is completed by December 1, and confirm which Goldenway-named bank details remain valid during the transition.

Teams should also ask whether the two names appearing on account-opening documents affect their own onboarding or reconciliation processes. The notice does not say whether account identifiers, interfaces or reporting formats will change, so those points need confirmation rather than assumptions. Deposit handling during the month-long bank update is another item to verify with the relevant operational contacts.
