Wilcox's career spans law and regulation
OANDA has appointed Joanna Wilcox as Global Chief Compliance Officer and made her a Director of OANDA Europe Limited, its UK entity. The position gives her responsibility for compliance at the group's regulated businesses around the world. OANDA said Wilcox comes from Tradu and FXCM; her LinkedIn profile records her as FXCM's Group Chief Compliance Officer from October 2024 to November 2026.
Wilcox began her career in 2001 doing white-collar criminal defence work at Bark & Co Solicitors. She then spent nearly seven years at Kennedys on corporate criminal investigations.
In 2009, she joined the Financial Conduct Authority as a lawyer in its Enforcement and Market Oversight Division, becoming a manager of investigation teams in 2014. Her profile names concluded cases involving Tesco plc in 2014, Worldspreads, LIBOR, EURIBOR, FX and the Blue Index insider dealing prosecution.
Her roles span brokers and oversight
She left the FCA in 2018 for Spreadex, where she was Legal & Compliance Manager and MLRO and held the FCA SMF16 and SMF17 functions. Wilcox moved to IG Group in November 2021 as Head Retail Advisory. Her appointment at OANDA therefore brings together experience in enforcement and compliance roles at brokerages, alongside her recent senior position at FXCM.
The appointment comes amid changes at both firms. In March, FTMO founders Otakar Šuffner and Marek Vašíček became co-CEOs of OANDA as Gavin Bambury stepped down.
Lucian Lauerman took the CEO role at OANDA Europe Limited in June. OANDA Prop Trader started moving clients to FTMO's platform on 2 March 2026, as OANDA concentrated on its core brokerage across eight jurisdictions. Jefferies, FXCM's owner, sold most of that business to AvaTrade. Finance Magnates also reported that Trade Nation bought FXCM's UK client book.

The integration question
For compliance and operations teams, the appointment changes who holds global responsibility, but OANDA has not specified whether reporting lines, systems or control workflows will change. Teams should establish whether entity-level approvals, escalation routes or case ownership will be updated, particularly for OANDA Europe Limited.
With the OANDA Prop Trader client migration already under way, a further question is whether any compliance records, monitoring or reporting processes need to move with those clients to FTMO's platform. The announcement does not set out the scope of that work or identify any systems being integrated, so those dependencies remain to be confirmed.
