OANDA has appointed Joanna Wilcox as Global Chief Compliance Officer, with responsibility for compliance across its regulated entities worldwide. The broker confirmed her appointment. Wilcox is also a Director of OANDA Europe Limited, OANDA's UK entity. The company said she joins from Tradu and FXCM; her LinkedIn profile records her as FXCM's Group Chief Compliance Officer from October 2024 to November 2026.

Her career spans law and enforcement

Wilcox entered the profession in 2001 as a solicitor handling white-collar criminal defence at Bark & Co Solicitors. She then spent nearly seven years at Kennedys on corporate criminal investigations. In 2009 she joined the Financial Conduct Authority as a lawyer in its Enforcement and Market Oversight Division, becoming a manager of investigation teams in 2014.

Her profile identifies the Blue Index insider dealing prosecution among matters she concluded, alongside work involving FX, EURIBOR, LIBOR and Worldspreads. It also lists Tesco plc, in 2014. Wilcox moved from the FCA in 2018 to Spreadex, where she was Legal & Compliance Manager and MLRO with the FCA SMF16 and SMF17 functions. She joined IG Group in November 2021 as Head Retail Advisory.

Leadership and platform shifts at OANDA

The appointment follows changes at both firms. FTMO founders Otakar Šuffner and Marek Vašíček became OANDA co-CEOs in March after Gavin Bambury stepped down. Lucian Lauerman became CEO of OANDA Europe Limited in June. OANDA Prop Trader began transferring clients to FTMO's platform on 2 March 2026, as OANDA concentrated on its core brokerage across eight jurisdictions.

FXCM has also undergone ownership changes. Jefferies, its owner, sold the majority of the business to AvaTrade. Trade Nation bought FXCM's UK client book, as Finance Magnates reported.

What an operations team should check

OANDA has described a global compliance remit, but has not disclosed changes to systems, reporting lines or control workflows alongside Wilcox's appointment. Operations teams should establish how responsibilities are allocated across each regulated entity and how issues move from local teams to the global function.

The reported move of OANDA Prop Trader clients to FTMO's platform raises separate operational questions. Teams involved in the related workflows can check whether account data, reporting feeds, reconciliation processes or escalation routes changed during the migration. The source does not specify which integrations were affected, if any.

Compliance leads can also ask what evidence each entity must provide to demonstrate that controls are operating consistently, and who owns the records used for that reporting. The source does not describe OANDA's control framework or any operational changes tied to the appointment, so those details remain to be confirmed internally.
