Karamanis takes on Asia remit

Axon Markets has appointed Panagiotis Karamanis to lead its Asia business. The offshore CFD broker is giving him responsibility for developing its presence across APAC, with a focus on commercial growth and relationships with regional partners.

Karamanis moves to the role after working as Country Manager for Thailand at EC Markets. His earlier senior positions included posts at FXGT and Squared Financial, and his background includes acquiring clients for brokerage businesses.

He said his priorities were to expand the firm's business around the region, build closer partner ties and establish a stronger local presence in support of sustainable growth.

Axon Markets Ltd operates the broker, which is regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) of Seychelles. The appointment comes as brokerages pursue a larger customer base across Southeast Asia, while facing pressure from higher operating, client acquisition and compliance costs. Introducing brokers and affiliates remain important routes to customers in many regional markets.

The appointment was first reported by Finance Magnates. For operations teams, the announcement identifies a new regional commercial lead, but does not specify any changes to the broker's platforms, client onboarding or support arrangements. Teams should establish whether partner onboarding workflows, account servicing and internal ownership need to change as Karamanis develops the business.

The source gives no detail on how the firm will organise regional reporting or compliance work. Operators can check who owns those processes, how introducing brokers and affiliates are handled, and whether rising acquisition and compliance costs affect existing workflows. The figures point to app use in Thailand and a large retail investor base in Indonesia, but do not explain what technology or service changes Axon Markets plans to make in either market.
