Prop Firm Match is facing affiliate-tracking allegations after Trader Kane said on X on 29 October 2026 that clicks on firm profiles and promotional-code controls appeared to trigger referral traffic. He alleged that the clicked page opened separately while the original browser tab went through an affiliate link to the relevant firm.
The distinction matters to firms paying commissions on challenge sales. An industry insider said Topstep, Apex, Tradeify and Goat Funded Trader were concerned that the platform could receive credit for purchases it did not refer, or take attribution from another affiliate, if tracking began on clicks that were not intended as referrals.
Prop Firm Match later acknowledged that clicks on a firm profile or code had been sending visitors through its affiliate link. The company said the behaviour should not have occurred, accepted responsibility and said it had contacted partners to check for attribution discrepancies. It also said it would respect decisions by firms to end their relationships.
How the firms responded
The announcements and statements describe different grounds for leaving. Apex referred to a review but did not say it had found a breach; Tradeify said its review had identified one.
- Apex Trader Funding: On 30 October 2026, Apex said it had ended the affiliate relationship immediately and disabled the related tracking codes. It said it had reviewed referral practices against its Affiliate Marketing Agreement, but did not identify the conduct that led to the decision or say whether the agreement had been breached.
- Tradeify: The firm said its review found that Prop Firm Match had violated its affiliate terms, and that it was ending the relationship. The change also ends Prop Firm Match's sponsorship of the Premier Trading League (PTL).
- Topstep: Michael Patak said Topstep was dropping Prop Firm Match. He said the firm had been paying $10k a month for a listing and did not have an affiliate code. According to Patak, its highest placement had been 6th, and he had heard that a first-place listing cost $100k/m. He said ending the arrangement freed up $10k a month.
- Goat Funded Trader: The firm said it had ended the affiliate partnership with immediate effect after reviewing referral tracking. It also said the associated tracking codes were disabled.
Rules and claims behind dispute
Prop Firm Match's affiliate conditions bar practices such as hidden iframe redirects, forced cookies and other ways of generating referrals artificially. Its website also discloses that it earns commissions when customers buy prop firm challenges through affiliate links or promotional codes. The alleged behaviour therefore raises questions about whether a click meant to open an internal page could be counted as a referral.
A separate post by Trusted Prop Hub named FundingPips, Goat Funded Trader, GFFutures, Lucid Trading, Take Profit Trader, Blue Guardian, Alpha Capital and Apex Trader Funding among firms it said were cutting ties. The source does not confirm each of those relationships separately. A post by Khaled, using the X handle @Khldfx, said his firm had acted over cookie practices in August, that its ranking had moved from Nr. 1 to Nr.10, and that commissions for the month would be forfeited while financial claims were pursued. Prop Firm Match's terms and response were first reported by Finance Magnates.
The integration question
For platform and affiliate teams, the immediate checks are in the browser flow and the referral record. Do profile and code controls trigger an outbound affiliate journey as well as opening the requested page?
Can click and conversion records distinguish a deliberate referral from navigation within the comparison site? The report does not say how many visits, purchases or commission payments were affected, or whether every partner used the same tracking setup.
Firms reviewing the issue should establish which traffic and sales periods need reconciliation, how disputed commissions will be handled, and whether disabling tracking codes covers every code issued to the partner. They should also check how their affiliate terms define valid referrals and what evidence is retained to resolve attribution disputes.
